01

Rinsing After Saltwater or Chlorine

Rinse your watch under lukewarm (not hot) fresh water for 30–60 seconds after every exposure to the sea, pool, or any chlorinated or sulphurous environment. Pay attention to the crown and bracelet where salt and mineral deposits accumulate.

Do not use soap or cleaning agents directly on the watch unless specifically recommended by our atelier — most contain surfactants that can degrade rubber gaskets over time.

Pat dry with a soft lint-free cloth. Never use compressed air around the crown.

02

Crown Care

The crown is the single most critical water-ingress point. Always ensure it is pushed in and screwed down fully before any exposure to water — even heavy rain. A half-turn gap is enough to bypass the gasket.

Never set the time while the watch is submerged or wet. Extract and operate the crown only when the watch is completely dry.

If you feel increased resistance when screwing the crown, do not force it. Have the crown, tube, and gasket inspected by our atelier.

03

Pressure & Gasket Testing

Water resistance ratings are tested under static pressure, not dynamic impact. A rated 200 m watch should not be slapped against water at high speed (e.g. high-board diving) without prior pressure testing.

Gaskets degrade gradually through temperature cycling, UV exposure, and contact with oils and solvents. We recommend a pressure and gasket test annually — especially if the watch is used for regular diving. This test costs ₹1,500 at our atelier.

The water resistance warranty covers the first 12 months. After that, gasket integrity is the owner's responsibility.

04

Bracelet & Strap Maintenance

Steel bracelets: remove periodically (every 6 months with regular wear) and clean between links with a soft brush and mild soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely before reattaching.

FKM rubber straps: wipe with a damp cloth after each use. Avoid contact with sunscreen, insect repellent, and petroleum products — these degrade FKM faster than saltwater.

Leather straps: leather and water are incompatible. If you plan to swim or dive, swap to the steel or rubber configuration. Clean with a dedicated leather conditioner; never submerge.

05

Magnetic Field Avoidance

The SW-200 movement uses a non-shielded lever and balance — strong magnetic fields will affect timekeeping. Keep the watch away from speakers, magnetic clasps, induction cooktops, and MRI environments.

If you notice sudden large timing errors (gaining or losing more than 30 s/day), the movement may have been magnetised. Demagnetisation is a quick and inexpensive atelier procedure.

06

Storage

Store in a dry, cool environment away from direct sunlight. Prolonged UV exposure can yellow certain gasket compounds over time.

If the watch will be unworn for more than 2 months, place it flat or in the provided watch box. Mechanical movements do not require winding to maintain oils — simply wind it manually when you resume wearing.

Avoid storing with mothballs or camphor — the fumes can attack rubber components.

07

Servicing Intervals

A full service — movement disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning, lubrication, regulation, case pressure test, and case finishing — is recommended every 5–7 years under normal wearing conditions.

Do not attempt to open the caseback yourself. Improper opening can damage the pressure-seal and will void the warranty.

All servicing is performed at our BKC Mumbai atelier by our own watchmakers. We do not use third-party service centres.
